Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is an important nutrient responsible for regulating calcium levels, which contributes to the health of teeth, bones and cartilage. It is often preferred over Vitamin D2 because of its easy absorption and stronger effects.
Vitamin D levels are moderated by the sunlight, as there is a chemical contained in the skin that absorbs the Vitamin D. As a fat-soluble vitamin, it can also be found in food with high fat content, particularly oily fish and other animal products. Its solubility in oil allows it to be stored in the body to some extent as well.
This product is Kosher and Halal certified.
Not having enough Vitamin D3 in your system can lead to a deficiency. Rickets, a disease resulting in deformation of bones and teeth, is quite common in children that have low Vitamin D3 levels. Adults with low Vitamin D3 can develop a condition called Osteomalacia (a disease with similar effects to Rickets) or even Osteoporosis. For women, menopause can sometimes result in a slight to significant loss of bone density if adequate levels of Vitamin D3 are not maintained.*
Vitamin D also aids the absorption of magnesium, another mineral essential to good growth. It is necessary in the metabolic process of Vitamin A and it is needed for the body to successfully process phosphorous.
Serving Size & Timing
Vitamin D3 is highly toxic in higher amounts. Because of how concentrated this supplement is, it should be measured and consumed with care. Do not supplement this product if you do not possess an accurate milligram scale. It is strongly suggested that those unsure of serving sizes choose less concentrated forms of Vitamin D3 to avoid overdose. Since individual needs may vary, always start on the lower end of dosing.
