Vitamin B1 provides the body with a source of Thiamine to use in the process of breaking down carbohydrates to be used as energy. Thiamine is also necessary for amino acids to be properly metabolized.
When a person’s diet is such that carbohydrates make up their main source of energy, this will require the body to produce more Thiamine. If this is not possible, supplementation may be needed.
